Piss-poor customer support of Wirex


I’m sad that I have to make this post, since I was really looking forward to owning a BTC debit card.

I ordered the one Wirex provides. First of all, the shipping took almost 3 weeks.. Oh well, I live in a fairly remote area, so that’s not that big of a deal.

Anyways, I decided to gift my family members 0.001 BTC as jokishly christmas presents on paper wallets. I tried making the transactions, but nothing happened. I then contacted the customer support. The person in the chat responded instantly, but asked whether I was cool with waiting for an email response, since she had to “escalate the issue to a superior”. Okidoki, cool as a pool, not that big of a deal.

I got the following email:

`First of all, please accept my sincerest apologies for the delayed response. We recognize that your experience fell far short of your expectation, and we want to express our gratitude for your patience.`  

`As to your request, I would like to inform you that we have escalated your request to the relevant team. Currently, they are investigating this issue. As soon as we receive the response from them, you will be immediately updated.`

`Also, we are very sorry for the inconveniences it might cause to you. We understand how frustrating it can be, that’s why please accept our sincere apologies.` `We do our best in order to resolve this as soon as possible.`

`Hope for your understanding.`

`In case you have any additional questions, please let us know and we will assist you with pleasure.`

Okidoki, carefully written email, nice! The problem is that Wirex has not informed me anything for **two weeks** now. I mean god damn, I am frustrated with my fiat bank as it is, but although stuff in there takes a few days, I never have had to wait for two weeks..

I am disappointed in Wirex, because although they have a nice looking site, very user-friendly app, and polite chat people/bots, they fail to deliver with the (imo) core functionality of their business.

I mean I would love to see good BTC applications out in the wild so that the adaptation rate increases, buuut I feel like companies like Wirex might have the oppiste effect 🙁
